Help with Videos

The videos on this site are Windows Media videos:

Most of the videos on this site last for 60 seconds or less.  If you have a dialup connection, you will have to wait about 10 minutes for a 60 second video to download to your computer.

When you download and view a video the first time, the video's file is copied to a (browser) cache on your computer.  When you click to view the video at any later time, you will have to wait only a few seconds for the video to start playing.  A good solution to this problem is to make the video pages available offline.

Configuring Microsoft Internet Explorer to view videos:

You can configure Internet Explorer so when you click on a video link, Windows Media Player will pop up, load, and play the video. (Do not configure Internet Explorer while you are viewing videos.)

To configure Internet Explorer in this way:

      1) Click  in the Explorer toolbar,

      2) Click in the media bar (look at the bottom left  in the Internet Explorer window).

      3) Select .   Play web media in the bar should not have a check mark, so the settings menu should look like:

(If
Play web media in the bar has a check mark, select Play web media in the bar to turn off the check mark.)  (You can click on the above graphic to see Microsoft's explanation of this Settings menu.)

4) If you turn on the
Repeat option from the Play menu of Windows Media Player, all videos continue playing repeatedly until you exit the media player.

Download Windows Media Player for the PC or Mac:

If you cannot view the videos, you may need to download and install the latest version of Windows Media Player.  (A version of this player exists for use on Macintosh computers.)

Making the Video Pages Available Offline

If you have a high speed internet connection, you will not need to do this.

After you make the video pages available offline, you can view all the videos, without waiting more than a second or so for them to appear.   The procedure to do this involves downloading all the video files at once.  (Downloading all the videos at once could take 4 to 5 hours, so you might want to go to work, go to sleep, etc. while you wait.)
